The Client’s Challenges

The client, a producer of forged aerospace components, wished to develop manufacturing capability in China to meet the needs of China’s emerging aerospace market.

 

Objectives

  • Identify and qualify potential partners for China production

  • Identify prospective raw materials suppliers in China

 

Deliverables (12 months)

  • Phase I : Orientation to conducting business in China for client’s management team

  • Phase II: Research and evaluation of China’s forge companies producing “O” rings for developing strategic partnership and/or joint venture

  • Phase III: Evaluate potential raw material suppliers

 

Processes

  • Identified 21 forge companies as potential partners and 8 raw material suppliers;

  • Facilitated client meetings with select candidates

  • Submitted three phase reports as well as all the interview notes and contacts’ information

 

Results

None of the Chinese forge companies could qualify for the stringent specifications for jet engine “O” rings as required by international OEM engine producers.
